    better Autocomplete function

Hi, appreciate your help with this.

i would love a better autocomplete to add to my excel spreadsheet.

i am at the stage of entering data that has a string of text followed by another string ( in the same cell )
    e.g
    moon night
    moon day
    moon sun

currently with autofill i have to type the word moon and THEN the autofill would kick in.

can i get it so maybe a drop down box comes up when i type and i can select ( hopefully via down arrow and not mouse ).

basically - a drop down box with autocomplete.

i can see an ADD ON from oheen ( on the net ) - but dont know if i can trust it - and it costs £30. ( although ill have to pay if that is only option without programing it myself !!)

appreciate anyone thoughts and experience of this.

    with many thanks, steve

do you have a list of frequently used doublets?

    Re: better Autocomplete function

i have data security issues so i can only attach an extract. but my source data goes on like this for 3000+ rows.

on items such as trn14days or war stars. its is sometimes followed by a top prof or non type. these are important to keep.

if i could have a drop down box where when i enter the t for trn 14days it brings up a drop down box and i can just select the whole string instead of typing it.

    my example is attached

    many thanks

    I cannot work with images.

I have knocked something together for test purposes.

    Open the file

    Select cell A1.

Click on Brown then Click in the list box

Click on Fox then Click in the List Box

    Does that help?

The second sample uses two list boxes.

The one on the left shows words that match on the left and should be alphabetical.

hi, thanks for reply, yes that opens up a new box and then you can select from there.

what i was looking for was a simple drop down box the offers suggestions, like autofill does, but as soon as you type a letter in the cell.

    wondered if this was poss?

    Re: better Autocomplete function

I think that my solution gives you a lot more.

Wait a few minutes and try this version.

I have created three list boxes. Select any empty cell and you will see three listboxes.

Listbox 3 is populated with all your doublets.

Click on any doublet. press the space bar. Click on any Doublet.

You can practically type you data using just your mouse

We havn't even looked at your very common words and phrases.

I'll show you how I would approach those,
