    Which formula to use (INDEX / MATCH / VLOOPUP)???

    Hi, Thanks in advance for helping a noob.

    Sheet 1 (Summary Sheet)
    Sheet 2 (Data Sheet)

    Sheet 1: O18 is current month and year (Oct 2020);

    Sheet 2: B1:HY1 is months, from 1 to 232;
    Sheet 2: B2:HY2 is Month Oct 2020 to Jan 2040).

    Sheet 1 Cell G6: I would like this cell to display which month we are at. e.g: if today's date matches Oct 2020, to read 1. If it matches Dec 2020 to read 3... etc etc.

    Ive played around with index(match) and also Vlookup, although it does not display the correct information.

    Also attempted this (don't laugh):
    IF(MATCH($O$18,'Lynx 02'!B2:HY2,0),'Lynx 02'!$B1,"")

    You've told us what not to laugh at but you’ve not told us what you've tried. Or what you’re trying it on.

    Apologies. I do not use the forums often. I forgot how to place a formula in the thread. I have however updated it as a quote.

    Hi there.

    A picture is worth 1,000 words. An Excel sheet is worth 1,000 pictures.

    Please read the yellow banner about sample worksheets, at the top of the screen. Act on its guidelines and post a SMALL sample sheet.

    So are you suggesting that October this year is 1, but in 2021 October will be month 13 and October 2022 month 25.

    You need to be quite precise when you ask a question. We're usually quite good but not psychic.
