Plot unevenly distributed data points evenly across 24 hours

I fear the solution to my question is simple, but I cannot find another tutorial which gives an explanation for how to plot a line graph the way I am trying to. I am attempting to plot the fluctuation of energy prices over 24 hours as a 2-D line graph. My data includes several prices per hour, but each hour has a different number of data points. The data points only correspond to an hour number, like this:

    1 0.12
    1 0.14
    1 0.17
    2 0.11
    2 0.13
    2 0.14
    2 0.15
    3 0.12
    4 0.16
    etc.

I want to be able to plot this data such that the prices for each hour are evenly distributed over the hour, but the line graph is a single continuous plot with the horizontal axis being hours 0 thru 24.

Any help or tips are appreciated. Thanks.

Use a scatter chart with only markers and no lines. Example.

Excel online isn't rendering the chart when I reopen the workbook, so here's an example workbook.

Thank you hrlngrv for your response. I should have clarified, I am desiring to plot this data such that the data points are not stacked up on each other at the hour mark. Rather, the first data point for hour 1 is at horizontal axis mark 1, and the second data point for hour 1 is some point between hours 1 and 2, and the third point is also between hour 1 and 2, but to the right of the second point. Ideally, all the data points for hour 1 would be evenly distributed on the horizontal axis between hour 1 and 2 (and similar for each subsequent hour).

Sounds like what you want would be to use formulas to make an x-range for charting. If your original data were in A3:B11,

    C3:
    Formula: copy to clipboard
Please Login or Register to view this content.

    C4:
    Formula: copy to clipboard
Please Login or Register to view this content.

Fill C4 down into C5:C11, then use C3:C11 as the x-range for a scatter plot.
