    Animations in excel

How can I make an animated image display while the user waits for a macro to finish running? I have a macro I'm working on that takes nearly10 minutes to run, but it does it all in the background so I need the computer to do something visible so the user knows to keep waiting. I was thinking of sticking an animated gif in a userform and just have it show the userform, then run everything and hide the userform when its done. But the gif doesn't animate, its just stationary. Any ideas?
