    Excel Graph Axis switching

    Hi Guys,

I have stumbled across this forum as a result of owning excel 2007 , i have a major report due in on a river flow analysis, i have obviously got to produce graphs representing flow rate and this is the first time i have used excel 2007. Basically i need to switch the X and Y axis around but really cant work out how to and i have just spent over two hours trying.

The graph type is a standard line graph; i want my cumulative frequency (which is just a % of 0 - 100) on the Y axis and i want my mid points (just numbers from 1 to 37) on my X axis no matter what i do excel keeps putting them the other way around and making the graph ranges to its own liking (i.e. its not stopping at 100% it goes to 110 etc) I cant move the data as its enbedded into formulas. Please Please help me as im so very stuck on this and really do not know what else to do!!!

Thanks (im going to sit here refreshing the page for a reply)

    Sam

Dear Just Select the Series which you want to plot on secondary axis ....Right Click and Select the option Format Data Series and in Series option select plot on secondary axis ..... your selected series will be plotted on secondary axis

    Hi,

Thanks for replying, unfortuantly for uniformity in this report to my last ones the graph has to have only two axis, when i put the secondary axis on and try removing the first it just jumps back to the way it was?

    Argh.

    Re: Excel Graph Axis switching

Here is the data i want displayed in the graph:
    Cumulative Frequency (%) / Midpoints
    100% / 0.05
    89%/ 0.07531 0.75
    17%/ 1.25
    11%/ 1.75
    7%/ 2.25
    5%/ 2.75
    4%/ 3.25
    3%/ 3.75
    2%/ 4.25
    1%/ 4.75
    1%/ 5.5
    1%/ 6.5
    0%/ 7.5
    0%/ 8.5
    0%/ 9.5
    0%/ 11
    0%/ 13
    0%/ 15
    73%/ 0.15
    56%/ 0.35
    0%/ 17
    0%/ 19
    0%/ 22.5
    0%/ 27.5
    0%/ 32.5
    0%/ 37.5

The problem is that when i do it i just need the % on the X axis and the mid points on the Y axis. I cant understand why im making it so hard to do?

    Re: Excel Graph Axis switching

Select the range A1:A28 and create an xy-scatter

    Select the series
Chart Tools > Design > Select Data
Edit series and set the X value to the range B2:B28

    Re: Excel Graph Axis switching

Because in a line chart the X values are used as category labels
In an xy-scatter the x values are plotted by their value.
