Check Box question

I have added a Check Box to a form to indacate if fees have been paid. When I scroll down the list of Text Boxes (3) the cursor highlites the check box label, not the box itself. I would like to be able to 'check' the box with a key stroke ("x" or something other than useing the mouse). Also is it possible to change the output of the check box from "TRUE" to "YES".

I figured out how to change True/False to Yes/No but I would still like to activate the check box with a key stroke rather than a mouse click. Is this possible, and if so how?
