Making cursor drop to new cell

    First off hi all.

We have a barcode reader that will be used for entering data of our asetts. If i enter data manually on the keyboard and hit enter it will drop to the cell below.
If i do it with the barcode reader it stays in the same cell until i hit the enter key. Is there a way to make the cursor drop to the next cell below automatically.

Also, when this data is added with the barcode reader can the date be added at the same time. I think the second part may not be a straight forward as i want

Cheers, great site i WILL be back

To add a date stamp will require VBA. Since that is the case, you can also use VBA to solve your first problem.

What column do the scanner codes go into? What column do you want the date stamp in? What is the format of the date stamp you want?

Re: Making cursor drop to new cell

I typed in the model number of my scanner and the words "enter key suffix", I found barcodes that I scanned and it reset the default on my scanner to enter (move down one cell) after I scanned a barcode. If I do not want it to do that I have a barcode that resets my scanner to its default settings, I also have the tab key suffix so it will tab over after a scan.
