Project percentage report

hello
I would like to enquire as to how i can include a monthly calender into a project spreadsheet wich would be used to automatically calculate the time/completion frame of a given task (sub task) and display progress in %
i recently encountered something similar to this when i used "smart draw 2010" to manage a small project, i figured the basic concepts could be drawn up and used in excel.
any ideas ?
