    Colouring cells

    Morning,

I am trying to colour cells using conditional formatting in Excel 2010.

I have worked out how to colour C3 green if the value is equal to 5, using the conditional formating tab.

But, what I want to do is colour A5, B5 and C5 if the value in C5 is equal to 5, any ideas please.

Thanks for any help you can give.

    Cheers

Select the range using the applies to box in the Conditional Formatting Wizard
    Hope that helps.

    Re: Colouring cells

I've tried that but then it checks every value in that range and changes the colour.

The exact issue is I want the conditional format to check column E2 to E167 and if the value is 5 change the colour to green for the the cells on the same row before column E, so all the cells in A2 to E167.

    I appreciate your help.

    Re: Colouring cells

To best describe or illustrate your problem you would be better off attaching a dummy workbook, the workbook should contain the same structure and some dummy data of the same type as the type you have in your real workbook - so, if a cell contains numbers & letters in this format abc-123 then that should be reflected in the dummy workbook.

If needed supply a before and after sheet in the workbook so the person helping you can see what you are trying to achieve.

Doing this will ensure you get the result you need!

    Re: Colouring cells

Thanks for this, I have attached a document:

For every row, I want to check the value in column E for that row and then if the value is 4 change columns A,B,C and D to the colour green on that row. I would then create a similar rule if the number was 1,2,3, etc.

I don't know if it makes a difference but the values in E are from a different sheet, using =B1 for example.

    Thanks for all this help

    Re: Colouring cells

Thank you for this, I'm almost there, but a minor problem due to decimal points.

I'm using =$E2<3 to turn everything red below 3 and a similar one for anything above four, but how would i phrase it for between 3.05 and 3.94.

I really appreciate your help this is becoming a nightmare
