Difficulty adding a trend line to line graph in Excel 2007

    Hello forum friends,

My name is Jennifer and I am new to this forum. My knowledge of Excel is limited but I do love the formulas and graphs! I'm currently struggling to finish my senior thesis. I need to do three things.
    A) Add a trend line to a line graph. No matter which graph form I choose the trend line option is greyed out.
    B) I need to show a comparison of three survey response items correlating to two different categories of respondents.
    C) I'd like to show another comparison of 7 sets of data for 10 groups of respondents.

Any ideas? I'm down to a week for this paper to be finished and haven't had any luck so far.

    Thanks so much!
    Jennifer

Can you attach a sample of your data? Potential helpers will have something to work with...

These two work books contain items I'd like to put on the same graph ie the graphs on satisfaction with life to contain descending responses to both the God and Church questions. The same for the otehr two graphs. I'd also like a trend line or something showing the mean pattern of responses through both types of respondents. Does that make sense Steve?

I am going to bed now but will check for your response in the morning.
Thanks a bunch from another Westie (Idaho).

To add the trend line - all you need to do is change the chart type from a 'Stacked Line' chart to a 'Line' chart.
