which formula to use for adding two columns, according to specific criteria

    Hi
Wonder if you can help me please.... I have 6 columns.
Column 1 has the job number, column 2 has the hours worked.
Column 3 relates to job number (on Tuesday) and column are the hours work.
Column 5 is again job number, and column 6 is following day.

I need to add the hours in column 2, 4 and 6 which relate to a particular job as identified in column 1, 3, 5.

    424 4.75 425 3.50 424 2.00
    336 2.50 336 3.50 336 2.50
    999 2.00 256 3.50 568 2.75
    424 2.00 256 2.50 698 6.00
    336 2.50 1245 5.50 425 2.50
    125 2.00 158 6.00 424 6.00

    At the moment, seperate formulas:

    424, so i go =sum(b1+b4)
336, i go =sum(b2+b5) etc and do this for each column. There must be an easier way.

Please advise, this would save sooooo much time.

    Thanks heaps !
    Sam
