Formulas not showing up on the New Workbook

Hi All,

Here is the scenario.

Consider that iam working with two excel files (or two workbooks). First workbook(.xlsx file ) is the one which is opened from my desktop. The Second workbook (.xlsx file ) is opened from my mailbox.

If i try to apply any formula in workbook 1 with the data available in workbook 2 , the formula is not showing up in the workbook 2.

So iam in a situation to drag and drop one workbook in to the other one, so that both are linked and the formulas work.

Please suggest me an alternate solution.

You need to open both files in the same instance of Excel.

First open the email Excel file. Then, using the Excel menu options, open the file on your Desktop.

Thanks for your reply, But that is what i am doing right now.

All iam trying to find out is to see if there is any way to open the file from email and the work book automatically links with the other file when iam writing formulas.
