ID repeat names and base calcs on those names

Hello.

So.... I have this recurring paypal transactions. Each month I get a report.

I want to know who donated more than, let's say, $100.

But many donate $5 each month.

So I want Excel to tell me ----- hey, yeah I recognize this guy, he is the same guy from last month (and the month before), and even though he just donates $5 at a time, his TOTAL is more than $100, so here is his info.

Is this possible?

Thanks so much!

Re: Hi Excel - Can't U realize it is the same person and add up all his donations?

You could use SUMIF, SUMIFS or SUMPRODUCT to total his contributions.

Re: Hi Excel - Can't U realize it is the same person and add up all his donations?

Ok so here is another effort to explain (sorry - it's difficult to explain this).

So each month I download a list of people who donated money to our .org.

Let's say there are 10 people each month.

The list starts from January 2013 (this year).

Now, it's November, and i want to only send a thank you letter to the people who's sum TOTAL in donation is MORE than $100.

So if JAY SMITH donated $5 each month, he actually donated more than $100 by now (November). I want to be able to know that.

Thanks a million!

Benyben, you need to change your thread title (as requested in post # 5) before other members will off suggestions. I know this is a tough 1 to name, but maybe something like "ID repeat names and base calcs on those names"?
1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)
2. If your question is resolved, mark it SOLVED using the thread tools

So U guys mentioned SUMIF or SUMIFS but I don't know how to use these. I might be dumb when it comes to these things ):

SUMIF() and SUMIFS() are functions that let you total values based on certain criteria...
=sumif(criteria-range,criteria,sum-range_
SUMIFS() is pretty much the same except it gives you more criteria
=sumifs(sum-range,criteria1-range,criteria1,criteria2-range,criteria2,criteria3-range,criteria3.............)

See file attached as example. (I wish I could share the original but I am not allowed).

But how do I literally input it?

So let's say I only want to see the PEOPLE who's TOTAL donation were ABOVE $29.

Plz help!

Thanks a million

Looks like a Pivot Table is what you need. Select any cell in the data area. Choose Insert | Pivot Table.

Drag the name to the rows and the amount to the values. Make sure it is summing and not counting.
