I have read the posts and the topic has already been discussed. BUT there are other things involved in those threads as well. I just want a macros or way that updates the date automatically on daily basis but once the sheet is edited or saved the date remains the same instead of updating.

on what basis you want the macro to update the date?
if not editing or saveing the sheet then???

The place where I am working we need to make expense sheets on daily basis. I want to create a sample sheet which can be used daily where I don't have to enter the date on daily basis the rest of the data is already taken care of. If there is no data entry then the sheet is not saved with a new name here
