What is wrong?? SUM values in a range with criterion

Hi Gents&Ladies

I have been looking around but could not find a working aster for following:

Im am trying to sum values in a certain range that equals a criterion. The cell that has the criterion also has a data validation.
Attached is the file which is quit self explanatory.

Could anyone have a quick look and explain me what I am doing wrong, and possibly insert a working formula

Would be very gratefull.

The formula you used works fine, assuming you enter it as an array, by exiting the cell with Ctrl+Shift+Enter.

However, you can avoid using an array formula, by simply using =SUMIF(D2:D6,A12,E2:E6)

A Better way to do this would be a sumif formula.
