    Talking Right hand Shortcut Menu

    Hello friends!

Is there a way that we could customize the Shortcut Menu (right hand) in any way? At least one icon? I mean I don't have a Facebook account and for me it would be very useful to customize it as shortcut for e.g. Forum: Excel Programming / VBA / Macros ..

    Thank you!

    Bogdan.
.. and don't forget to have fun!

    Re: Right hand Shortcut Menu

    Hi Bogdan
Are Yous talking about a modification to the Forum Software? Sorry if i missed the point, but when I right hand click I get options to do with my Browser, nothing to do with the Forum?

Anyway, due to recent and continuing Forum Software Problems, I think the general coconscious is that any changes would be very unwise as there are a lot of thought along the lines that some of the customizing of the Software has lead to those problems. So it is very unlikely that any suggestions would be implemented. If you take a quick look at recent Threads in this Sub Forum as wellas the Water colors Sub forum………….
    http://www.excelforum.com/the-water-cooler/
____.......you will get the point very quickly about that.

But it is good IMHO to make the suggestions as you have done. I just wanted to make you aware that such a change is currently unlikely to happen. Also The “Tech Guys” or whoever seem very rarely to respond, and it is left to the over worked voluntary Admins and Mods to answer you. That is why I thought I would try and give at least some reponse.

I find it is always a good idea to save the URL Link to a Thread you are expecting an answer for, especially due to the E mail Notification problems, and you could also store the link
    http://www.excelforum.com/excel-programming-vba-macros/
    there also.
I can easily do that in my Browser Favorite list. There I can access it very quickly with 1 or 2 clicks

( I think personally however, it is always worth the extra effort to start at the home side, then have a quick glance at the Sub Forums, catch any important or recent info ( especially Forum Software problems!!) , and have a quick look sometimes at other Sub Forums.. I am often amazed how there is another alternative to a macro, such as a formula solution to a problem. Sometimes trying to separate Formulas, general, and Macros can be a bit limiting. )

Hope that is a bit of help
    Alan

    Re: Right hand Shortcut Menu

I believe Bogdan is referring to the menu at the right of the screen in this forum.

Yep, I think so also now that you mention it. I had missed that, Sorry.
    Thanks for clarifying that

That's the floating tool bar that you can switch on, or off, in the general section of your profile. I suspect it is fixed and cannot be edited.

    Hello again dear friends.
Today I have played a bit with Tampermonkey (an extension for Chrome, same as Greasemonkey for Mozilla), and managed to add a little icon that links to the desired address (in my case http://www.excelforum.com/excel-programming-vba-macros/)

    custom shortcut.png

If anyone else would be interested on howto do this, is very simple. After you install Tampermonkey extension add a new script. Replace the default new script with the following:

    HTML Code:

So yes, the floating tool bar can be modified but on the client side.

Nice. Though I'm not a huge fan of tampering with stuff like this ... but it's good to know that you can do it.

That said, I don't use the Side Bar as I always found it to be irritating so I won't be experimenting.

I should add that, when I said:
I suspect it is fixed and cannot be edited.
... I really meant within the Excel Forum setup.

    Re: Right hand Shortcut Menu

Of course the link/button/element can be placed anywhere on the webpage, I placed it on the sidebar because the sidebar it's always there so I can access it from anywhere in the forum.custom shortcut2.png
e.g. the attached picture has the same script but with just a slight modification:
    HTML Code:
