    Attachin Attachments.

    Greetings all,

I'm with Shirleyxls and her reply in Tony's thread:-

    http://www.excelforum.com/suggestion...ch-a-file.html

The file uploader (paper clip) hasn't worked for me for many months now and I've had to resort to using free file sharing site links to attach test work books. I've tried three different browsers to no avail. My settings are fine. I've sent messages regarding the problem with no response. I even hijacked one of Ford's thread replies to ask if he could help - no reply.

This site is awfully slow in connecting also and I've noticed that it is very vulnerable to hacker attack.

    Can anyone advise?

    Regards to all.

    Re: Attachin Attachments.

You don't have to use the paperclip, which I don't think is likely to be fixed.

Click on GO ADVANCED and then scroll down to Manage Attachments to open the upload window.

No need to resort to file-sharing sites.

    Re: Attachin Attachments.

    Hi Ali,

Thanks for the reply. However, even the Manage Attachments doesn't work on my end and hasn't for a while!

I'd rather use purpose made site file uploaders but................

What I did notice was that this problem arose after the last hack attack but, before you ask, my machine is clean.

Anyway, I'll stumble my way through it.

    Thanks again Ali.

    Cheerio,
    vcoolio.

P.S. Apologies for leaving the "g" off "Attaching" in the title!

    Hi vcoolio

If you're using Windows 10 and Microsoft Edge "Manage Attachments" does not work properly. This issue has been reported.

I've fallen back to IE11 to upload files with "Manage Attachments" as the Paper Clip is entirely FUBAR and is not likely to be fixed.

    Re: Attachin Attachments.

It works for me with Windows 10 and Microsoft Edge. However, some time ago (several years - it was Arlette who suggested this) I had to switch to the basic uploader rather than the enhanced uploader when there were problems with attaching files (what's new?), and have used that setting ever since.

To change this setting, click on UserCP, then in My Settings on the left hand side select General Settings. Scroll down to Miscellaneous Options and the third one allows you to set Enhanced Attachments Uploader to OFF.

    Hope this helps.

    Pete

    Re: Attachin Attachments.

    Hello John and Pete,

Thanks for the tips. "Edge" has given me other issues also that don't surface when using Firefox or Google Chrome.

I'll try both your suggestions. You never know..................

    Thanks again.

    Re: Attachin Attachments.

Hi John (and all the other tipsters above),

Well, now I'm stumped! I just replied to the following thread:-

    http://www.excelforum.com/excel-gene...ll-ticked.html

and updated the test work book for the OP. I thought that I would try my luck with "Manage Attachments" and, low and behold, it worked! I did this using the Firefox browser which was giving me issues like the other two browsers in this regard. Go figure!

A temperamental function perhaps or possibly my PC is temperamental!!??!! Then again, I might be the temperamental link here!

Anyway, I'll keep and eye on this little issue and let you know if it plays up again.

Again, many thanks to one and all for your advices.

    Cheerio,
    vcoolio.

My apologies, I did not see your post I am only able to get in here for an hour or so at (my) night these days, because after the last attack, this site is blocked by the State I work for

I use Chrome, and the "manage attachments" works fine for me. The upload icon does not work, I have asked the tech team to look into it

    Hi Ford,

Not to worry. I hijacked your thread in desperation I think! Can't remember if I helped out or not on that thread.
    Thanks for the reply.

BTW, I just love how you master those formulae! Keep up the good work.

    @John,

Ah. So its been going on since long before I joined up?

    Thanks again fellas.
