How to insert picture to thread, instead of attachment?

The general advice is usually... don't. Post an Excel sheet instead. Pictures are not editable, we can't se what else is going on, etc, etc...

Use the insert image icon on the toolbar.
However, as the boys have said, seeing the Excel file will be of much more use.

How to insert part image (e.g. formed by Snapshot in Foxit Reader) in thread?
(as I want to insert part image only, instead of full image in attachment.)
I want to have the effect of post #11 of
https://www.excelforum.com/excel-new...ml#post4790056
that only part of picture is inserted and no attachment.
The icon to insert picture in thread:
Icon for insert image.jpg
Please advise how to adjust the size of picture.
I have/ had the same question… assuming the question here is actually something like……
“_..How make small insert..” , like little picture, not horrible big like excelforum Image fills up the whole Thread…. …..I do not think that the excelforum software allows you to do this, that … or other similar.. .. (but hopefully someone will tell us if I am wrong.. )
Anyway,
So I wanted to do this also.. that is to say make the Inserted image smaller… make the Inserted image less obtrusive…
vBulletin Software probably allows for it..but
I expect the Forum software could be made to do it, as I have noticed that this other Excel Forum uses the similar vBulletin Software and does something interesting _ …..
_..This is what they do at excelfox.com ( currently they have vBulletin Version 4.2.3 ) : In a Thread, an uploaded Image is typically very small, hardly noticeable … see this:
ExcelFoxsLittleOne.JPG https://imgur.com/UJi4e4a
If you click on the Image, then it gets erected much bigger
ExcelFoxsFullErection.JPG https://imgur.com/AxYY8Zr
But I doubt you will get the software here at excelforunm to do anything like that.
But if you look at those screenshots, that is to say, when you hover over them with the mouse , a small window shows briefly something . I was able to capture that on those last 2 screen shots. It says there something about the pixel resolution…
We have touched on this theme of fiddling the pixel size before in Threads here, for example…. ( https://www.excelforum.com/the-water...ed-avatar.html )
It would appear to me that at excelforum there is a simple relationship between the File / Pixel size and the final size that it comes out in the post….
Coming back to that excelfox Forum example… That little image says it has 94.6KB.
If I right click on that small Image, and copy/ save it like this: _..
CopyExcelFoxsLittleOne.JPG https://app.box.com/s/m0oxo7cz07hn9dt1t4e77s7g1j6uqp2t
_.. Then I take a look at what I have _..
LookingAtCopiedExcelFoxsLittleOne.JPG https://app.box.com/s/eqknlcsl3rnx7riqnlhxlu30tlyf5eni
It shows a size of 1.57KB or 4KB or _ “Abmessungen ( Dimensions ) “ 100 x 34
On this screenshot, the big erection, https://imgur.com/AxYY8Zr we saw _ 1265 x 434 ( @90%) _
If I right click on the big erection and do a copy/ save thingy and then take a look at what comes out, I see this:
LookingAtCopiedExcelFoxsBigErection.JPG https://app.box.com/s/2l75jiloqq1rc4c8044cpvks8dplq4ts
It shows size of file 94.6KB 0r 96KB or or _ “Abmessungen ( Dimensions ) “ 1265 x 434
So a workaround to “make it smaller”.
Using this example: I wanted to post this, but I wanted it smaller.
Sucuri Capture jolivanes.JPG
The details of it look like this:_..
BigSucuri.JPG https://app.box.com/s/ut0sq1nvnpuktztcbo7uma1bivv8t9s4
_.. So we are looking at 942 x 719 and 83KB, or thereabouts….
So my guess is that you just need to reduce the size / Dimensions. There are lots of ways to do this,
for example using software:…
Microsoft Office Picture Manager
or
for example you can use an internet site for an instant resize:
http://www.picresize.com/
http://resizeimage.net/
So I used that last link … this was the end result:
Old Image: 942x719 pixels( 82.1 KB ) _ New Image: 131x100 pixels( 14.6 KB )
Webp.net-resizeimage Upload.jpg : https://app.box.com/s/03o4ocpoi256wu33rtnen3og6dllz0y5
Webp.net-resizeimage 131 x 100 14.6KB.jpg : https://app.box.com/s/gokl0c91e4dhzm5cuhfym34d9bfuslbv
It looks like this now in the final post.
Webp.net-resizeimage.jpg
( ***In case anyone cannot see that in the post, which as Ford said can also occur, … here is a screenshot of part this Thread as I see it ImageThreadDec2017.JPG https://app.box.com/s/xpj4jqo4cnftrxv26lvavhoaug78dnk7 )
I expect before I use it I will probably experiment a little to get the size better, but I expect after a bit of practice you get a feel for what size to select for the resize…
I think it certainly make a thread easier to read keeping the Screenshots as small as necessary to get across what you are trying to .. Linking to external sites is an alternative, but can be a problem if those links get broken or some Member can’t / won’t access external sites. ( As I write this Post, my favourite Image share site, Imgur.com is not working, and I am using box.net, which I usually use for Excel File sharing and for my own File backup ). On the other hand there is also problems sometimes that Members cannot see the internal Images at excelforum***, although I think currently there are not too many problems there.
A “Belt and Braces” approach is sometimes good, that is to say give a link to an external site alongside an attempted Inserted Forum Image. That way you increase your chances of getting the message across
Screenshot copyable to a Spreadsheet
One last very important point. If you are wanting to give a small screenshot of data in a Worksheet, then Please use one of the Forum Tools that generates a BBCode Table. That way helpers can copy your data to a Worksheet. Try it: You can copy this and paste it in a worksheet. You cannot do that with an image, and helpers will not feel like typing in all your data.
Using Excel 2007 32 bit
Worksheet: EFFldr
Row\Col D E 38Yous can copy data 39from this table produced from a 40Forum Tools BB Code Generator
Forum Tools Info… ( I may consolidate and tidy up all this stuff soon… )
