Must enter login when I click on attachment. Why?

Whenever I click on an attachment, I must re-enter my username and password -- effectively re-log in -- even though I am already logged in. Why?

Not sure that is true __all__ of the time. But __most__ of the time, at least.

If it matters, I am using the latest Firefox browser.

And I think this started only recently. But "recently" might be months, now.

If the answer (and remedy, hopefully) is not "obvious", I can try more experiments to narrow down the circumstances.

You sometimes get this when clicking on old links when alternating between http and https, your browser sees them as different sites and the ssl implementation here is shonky at best - might be worth checking your url

Okay. I don't think that's the problem in the most immediate situation. But I'll look more closely next time.

Also, it certainly does not happen with every attachment. Just clicked on a PNG attached, with no problem. IIRC, the most recent problem attachment was a JPG.

I'm not sure that matters. IIRC, with Excel attachments, sometimes it prompts for a login, and sometimes it doesn't. That sounds like your stale-link explanation.

At any rate, I just wanted to determine if it's a well-known problem. Apparently not. So as you say, it might be something specific to my computer environment; or something else entirely.

In either case, I need to pin down the details. Sigh, I don't even remember what attachment "prompted" me to start this thread (no pun intended; well, just a little ).

Sorry for the vagueness of the bleet. Just a shot in the dark.
