Need a visible "Delete account" tool on settings page

I haven't used this forum in years, and I'm trying to delete my account. This should be on the user settings page.

Admins, if you can delete me, I'd appreciate it.

    Hi geobeck,

I think you are looking for the privacy section at: https://www.excelforum.com/profile.php?do=privacy

If you had your account deleted, would it also delete all your questions and answers? That would be bad for people who might have those questions or need those answers.
One test is worth a thousand opinions.

That page doesn't have a deletion tool.

As for my answers, I'm sure I created this account to ask questions. I don't think I've contributed anything valuanle.

    Admins, are you there?

I think that with most forum software, and certainly in any vBulletin forum software versions commonly in use, account deleting is fundamentally not provisioned for in any wirings. So it will normally not be available as a standard option, to which Administrators have access, and further, the customising of the same would be very difficult, if not impossible.
It appears to be a fundamentally accepted requirement to prevent account deletions, at a fundamental level. Even Spammer accounts, will, in general remain as registered members , even after any punitive measures taken, such as Banning.
The privacy options, as suggested to you by MarvinP , and things like editing the supplied Email address from you, are the nearest you will likely come to nullifying the account, as far as it effects you.

    Sid

Perhaps you have not provided valuable contributions, but others have provided valuable answers that should not be lost.
This being said, the forum usually does not delete accounts.
If an Admin reads this he will certainly contact you with an alternative solution that has already been applied

Re: Need a visible "Delete account" tool on settings page

I guess my solution will be to remove any information that my be on my profile and use an auto-generated strong password.

The inability to delete accounts seems like it must violate some privacy laws somewhere, or any statutes that give users control of their personal information.

    Admins, any ideas?
