Instructions for 'HOW TO ATTACH YOUR SAMPLE WORKBOOK' are incorrect

I just finished attaching a worksheet to a new post and noticed that your instructions shown prominently at the top of each page aren't accurate. It says 'scroll down to GO ADVANCED, click, and then scroll own to...'. In the current forum software there is no 'Go Advanced' that needs to be clicked. The attachment management link is on the same page, under 'Additional Options'.

It should say something like:

Just before posting, scroll down to ADDITIONAL OPTIONS, click MANAGE ATTACHMENTS and follow the instructions at the top of that screen.

Much simpler, and nobody will be searching (like I did) for 'GO ADVANCED' on the page.

I see (and have always seen) Go Advanced below the window for the reply. I do not see Additional Options anywhere. Perhaps you are using the Android version ??

I'm in Chrome browser on Windows. But I see now. That's a button only under the Quick Reply form. It doesn't exist when a user is creating a new thread. I guess the instructions would be accurate if someone in the forum asks you to post an example sheet. Maybe not such a simple change.

You are correct. In actual fact, you don't need to find and click on Go Advanced. The Manage Attachments option is present on the Post New Thread page ( at least for the VBA forum ).

I'll report the thread to bring it to the attention of the Moderators/Administrator.

Sorry, I realised I just repeated some of what you said. However, I still think you are right. The purpose of the banner is to encourage (new) people to post a sample workbook when they start a new thread. Most regular contributors will know how to attach a file to a reply.

Anyway, reported now.

Yes, you are correct. I have not started a new thread in a while and didn't notice this. I will take it up with the Mods/Admins to see if we can touch it up.

Thanks for bringing this to out attention. The instructions were for all posts other than the 1st 1 - as pointed out, because mods/gurus seldom post new threads (and when they do, seldom add a file) this was not noticed until now

I have adjusted the banner to (hopefully) fix that oversight.
1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)
2. If your question is resolved, mark it SOLVED using the thread tools
3. Click on the star if you think someone helped you

Pete, the post was reported yesterday which is when it got our attention.

I guess there is no systematic review of "Suggestions for Improvement".

Yes, I was quite surprised to get an email notification of a response to this thread last night - good thing Trevor picked up on it.

That is a disappointment. To be fair, I don't tend to pay much attention to sub-forums. I check them irregularly and infrequently. I just look at my Control Panel and New threads. Last night was one of my infrequent visits and I happened to notice this thread. Otherwise …

To be fair, we hardly miss anything here as it comes up in the New Posts view. This is an exception that slipped through the net. Sorry about that.
