    Cannot upload attachments

    I am getting an error uploading attachments. I found there is a limit of 5 attachments allowed. So I went to Settings -> Attachments and deleted all of them except one. Looking at that list now, there is only one listed.

    But when I start a new post and click the attachment button, it still lists all of the old attachments in the Home frame. I cannot show any screenshots because all of the attachments are used up. The attachment box says "Uploads not utilized within one hour will be deleted" but they have been there over day.

    Any suggestions?

    Re: Cannot upload attachments

    Don't try to use the Attachments button - it has been faulty for a number of years.

    Instead, you should follow the directions given in the yellow banner at the top of the screen, which I reproduce here in a bit more detail:

    To attach a sample Excel workbook, click on Go Advanced (below the Edit Window) while you are composing a reply, then scroll down to and click on Manage Attachments and the Upload window will open. Click on Browse and navigate to (and double-click) the file icon that you want to attach, then click on Upload and then on Close this Window to return to the Edit window. When you have finished composing your post, click on Submit Post.

    Hope this helps.

    Didn't I read somewhere ( post by Ali I think), that it was fixed?

    Yes, it was fixed some months ago.

    @tj4242

    There is only a limit on attachments to an individual post, as far as I am aware. There is no overall limit. This is not normal. I have many, many attachments uploaded.

    How are you accessing the forum? What OS? Which browser? Have you tried a different browser?

    Re: Cannot upload attachments

    Well, it might be "fixed", but there are still some attachments which are invalid, whereas those that are attached using the above procedure seem to work okay.

    Can you be specific? Invalid attachments is a different matter: what sort of attachment is reposrting as invalid? It certainly accepts Excel files and image files.

    Re: Cannot upload attachments

    When a poster uses the Paperclip icon, only the filename is shown (in blue), and this can appear anywhere in the text of the post, whereas by following the Manage Attachments procedure the filename appears within a grey box at the bottom of the text, along with some other text (Download, and file size etc.), and so it is easy to distinguish between the two methods being used. I've never had any problems downloading the latter, whereas there have been quite a few saying "invalid attachment - refer to Administrator" (or such-like) if the former method is used. It doesn't happen all the time, but even once is frustrating, having to refer the OP to the method given in the yellow banner.

    Re: Cannot upload attachments

    I am getting an error using the method in the yellow box. I am using Windows 11with Edge browser.

    I am currently trying to upload a 2.7MB XLSB file. According to the upload page, XLSB should be allowed up to 9.77MB. The only error message I get is "Upload of the file failed"

    I just uploaded a screenshot of the upload screen error and that seemed to work fine. So maybe something with XLSB not working?

    Re: Cannot upload attachments

    Do you really need to attach a file of that size? We only need about 20 rows of data in a sample file.

    Re: Cannot upload attachments

    I am not uploading to get a question answered or resolved. I was going to upload the Tips & Tricks forum. It is a full game I wrote and an article with some of the tricks that were used to make it work. Along with fully commented code.

    If that is not allowed, I understand.

    @Ali,

    Here is an example of an invalid attachment (Post #4 in the thread):

    Not sure if you are still monitoring this.
