forum search returns results that do not match all words

When I search a forum, either from the forum or from the advanced search form, I get results that do not contain all the words. This happens with the title search also.

What exactly are the rules or syntax for the search words?

How do I force searching for posts with all the words?

    Thanks,

Try putting the words inside quotation marks, ie. "Searching for Words"

Alan, I just tried your suggestion. My usual experience is that the quotes would mean the words had to appear consecutively.

In any case, I tried "add-in macro all workbooks" on a search of the 'Excel Programming / VBA / Macros' forum.

I get 73 pages of hits by searching titles either way from the search box at the top right of forum thread Forum Tools (i.e. Search v Forum v ). (titles only)
Type: Posts; Keyword(s): "add-in macro all workbooks"; Forum = Excel Programming / VBA / Macros and child forums -> 163 pages
Type: Posts; Keyword(s): add-in macro all workbooks; Forum = Excel Programming / VBA / Macros and child forums -> 163 pages

    Using the advanced search

Type: Posts; Keyword(s): "add-in macro all workbooks"; Forum = Excel Programming / VBA / Macros -> 286 pages

IMO the search "facility" is pretty useless. I thought it would be interesting to see how many threads/posts related to Office 365 given that a new sub forum has been set. 193 pages with, or without, quotes. Even tried +Office +365 ... no better.

I've tried in the past to locate threads I have contributed to but forgotten the details ... not a chance

@JP: oh, absolutely. But not when you are trying to assess the potential demand for a sub forum with EF.

that's a done deal ain't it? ;-) you can always restrict the search using site:excelforum.com in the search text

    Can't somebody look into this?
Maybe it's a misconfiguration or a vBulletin bug.
A google site: search can't organize by thread or restrict to title.
