    Is it possible to flag (in red) user who do not leave feedback/reputation points?
    This will indicate them if they ask future question.
    Although the answers a "free of charge" - forcing someone to say "Thank you" is this way would be beneficial for those who answer and for the forum spirit as well.

    Re: Reputation

    How would you differentiate between a user who didn't leave feedback because it wasn't deserved and a user who didn't leave feedback when it was?

    Sounds to me that you would essentially be turning the reputation system into a post count.

    You would just end up with users leaving feedback on random posts to change their "flag" status.

    Re: Reputation

    Yes. Much as it leaves me feeling slightly aggrieved (especially if if I've spent considerable time on a solution) when an OP fails to leave perhaps a simple "Thank you", I don't think it would be the correct remedy to force - or even penalise - them for not having done so. Ditto for Reputation Points.

    Forgive me Robert, but I couldn't help noticing that your 'footer', which - like the majority of contributors to this forum - is a reminder of how to add to the solver's reputation, is certainly not what you'd call 'subtle' - just a thought, but if, as you seem to be, you are keen to make sure that you always receive Reputation Points (which I'm sure you deserve), have you considered the possibility that some people might actually be less likely to give them when confronted with such a, dare I say, undisguised solicitation?

    XOR,

    Are you talking about this line in his signature - "If you are happy with the results, please add to the contributor's

    Re: Reputation

    @Fotis

    @arlu, Robert Apologies - I didn't mean to suggest there was anything 'wrong' with it - I was merely suggesting that it might be on the "less-than-subtle" side (in terms of size) and that, to some people, perhaps this might leave a faint impression of 'obligation' when they first read your posts. Try to imagine, for example, if it were, say, twice the size, and imagine what your first impression would be on reading such a thread...

    Or perhaps I'm just overthinking things...

    Ok yeah i would agree. From the font size, it does seem a lil pushy. Its like when you use caps, it implies you are shouting.

    Re: Reputation

    I have seen bigger one to be honest...

    Yea this is maybe a little bigger ( I just changed that to smaller, taking into account what you have said)that you would expect but at the same time is visible.
    New user probably does not know how to add reputation and might missed the “small print”.

    The whole idea is "an idea" to see what you think about the subject.
    After reconsideration flagging would not be the best way to go but maybe a small remainder popping out when the user marked the topic as “Solved”?
    I think the system is capable of distinguish between post started by particular user and a random post ,to not allow to add random reputation.

    Re: Reputation

    Although I don't think OPs should be 'forced' to say "Thank you", or to leave Reputation Points, I have to agree that some sort of reminder system, if possible, is not at all a bad idea.

    There are some days where I've given solutions to perhaps 20 or so posts, and barely received a single Reputation Point. Although accrual of these points isn't by a long way the main reason I contribute to this forum, it would seem sensible if visitors were made aware of the process. Fair enough if they don't wish to use the system (or don't feel that reputation is deserved), but just so long as they are aware of its existence.

    And Robert, don't necessarily listen to me - make it as big as you like!

    Regards

    @Robert,

    That would suggest that users should only be allowed reputation to be left in a thread they started (or posted in)?

    Fotis I think your Visit Greece message is too large and so I would like you to remove it as it means that everytime I look at one your posts I start to imagine being back on Folegandros...

    Re: Reputation

    Just because i am assisting them, it doesnt mean that other mods and admins should do it. They are already doing a lot for the forum. Its upto each one what they want to do to assist others in this forum. So there is no compulsion that all mods should be posting that message.

    And yes, how truly wonderful that square is! Is there a finer place in all the Greek Isles? If there is, it must be pretty special...
