    How about Danes?

    I’m wondering if anybody has helped any Danes in this forum and what was their response were i.e. thanking you for time and effort spent on their behalf, marking the thread “Solved” and distributing reps with a lavish hand?

    The Danes like the “Scarlet Pimpernel” is a rather elusive kind of people I think. During my time in this forum I have only managed to help two of them.

    But what they had in common, aside from being Danes were that none of them gave me any feedback on help received. No “thank you”, no marking of thread “Solved” and no rep.

    The old? and wise sage in OP behaviour “FDibbins” once told me that “only if your solution don’t work then the OP will post back and complain about that. So if you don’t hear anything you know that you solution worked!”

    But even if I know this I’m uncertain what to do the next time I stumble over a Dane crying for help. Should I ignore his cry for help, or tell him to get lost in cyber space, or helping him hoping for a reward later on? Yes there are members who have got rep after 7 years!

    So what is the general opinion on Danes in this forum, tell me I’m eager to know.

    So, you helped two Danes and they didn't thank you for your help? I would encourage you to seek out more Danes on this or any forums to see if your suspicion can be validated and then take your study to the United Nations.

    wow, that is deep

    old to some, not so old to others on this forum

    My opinion fwiw - I help everyone, until they prove themselves unworthy of my time (that sounds arrogant, it wasnt meant to be lol)

    Danes seem to make up a small % of membership, so any non-replies would probably stand out more?

    On a side note, I would love to see what the demographic make-up of our members, is

    @AlKey
    Don't forget this is "the Water cooler" a forum for "idle chit chat" and other topics so don't take everything at face value.

    @FDibbins
    Yes I know Danes is small % but a 100% not sticking to forum rules, tsk, tsk!
    That's why I ask for information regarding Danes.

    Oh dear... I hope that you're not trying to start yet another Dano-Swedish war... Didn't you have enough of them in the 15-19th centuries??

    Perish the thought!

    No we have not had much problem with the Danes. We (I'm a Norwegian) had a union with Denmark from 1365 to 1814 and the last time we had a serious dispute was around 1930. This ended in 1933 at the court at "den Haag" where it was decided that Denmark should have custody over Greenland. Since then no problem as far as I know unless one consider that Norway won over Denmark in football 1929 but that was long time ago.

    Since the number of Danes using this forum is rather small I'm worried that in order to gather a sufficient number of Danish responces that I need in order to finish my theorem "The Danes and their Forum behaviour" I will probaly not live long enough. Too bad it was a sufficient strange idea that I felt it was worthwhile to spend time and effort on it.

    Yes and the Americans are arrogant, the British are ultra traditional, the Australians are party animals, the Canadians are neurotic, the Arabs are impulsive, the French are selfish, the German’s mechanical, the Greeks lazy and the Indians manipulative.

    On no! Don't we are just as neurotic as the rest of the world! Have you never watched an Ingmar Bergman film? To a Scandinavian this is humor on a very high and also deeply profound?? level.

    Danish pastries with Relish?!?!

    Oh dear, have I put my foot in my mouth again! I thought "relish" meant "enjoyment". I was not aware that is was a pickled side to this as well.

    By the way, your moniker suggests a "connection" to chemistry

    Did you hear about the guy who fell into the propylating vat?

    "Did he get burned?"

    "No, but he got horribly butylated"

    Ha! Good one. Don't get me started with Chemistry jokes......... okay, just one.

    Two Hydrogen atoms are walking down the street. One stops and says, "I just lost an electron."
    The other goes "Are you sure?"
    "I'm positive."
