    Congratulations xlnitwit :-)

Belated best wishes Don, to your first “excelforum anniversary”, yesterday, and congratulations on the bestowal of the prestigious Forum Expert title !!, - ( although you have already had a “Reputation beyond Repute” for ages, so it was just a technicality in your case after being with is for 12 Months** )
    Thanks for all the help.

[joke] Now you can help whip those new OP’s into shape with the powers of the drop down list of Canned Replies that should now be available to you, lol… [/joke]

Can't help but think of a certain dichotomy here... 'Forum Expert' Vs 'xlNitWit'

    But congrats...

    Thank you, Alan and Lazarus.

Canned replies- how exciting! If only they were canned answers, that would save a great deal of time.

    - Thanks for the offer Ford :-) . I think I will have to decline.. I don’t think I am pretty enough , - well I am not sure if that is a requirement, but most secretaries I knew were not Plug ugly like me.. and what the boss did to them .. well that sort of puts me off too.. lol…
I doubt also I could keep track with all – we have so many good contributors to Expert to Guru “Posting machines” out there it would be a full time job. But it is not a bad idea to give the Mods/ Admis a little less to do, so they can do there Excelling better
Don ( xlnitwit ), just caught my attention coincidentally as I saw him start from scratch at like, “Guru level”, which was reflected in his Reputation count that shot up like Jerry’s Rocket reaching the top level of “……reputation beyond repute” whilst he was still a Forum “Newbie”._....
_....maybe that has something to do with his position in the Member list??
    _....___________ ??

?? What is the significance, that is to say how does that order come about then?? .. Just idle curiosity, not important.. – I personally think the only important thing is to give how, when/ if you can, - some have more time than others, some need more help etc.. But a bit of harmless fun competition at the top amongst the “Big Boys”, ( and Big Girlies :-) ) is OK I think.. ..so .. how do you get “up the list”. I can’t see an obvious logic. ??

    @ Alan

This depends on how many Reputation points you have received from other members.
The more people approve the answers you provide the more your reputation count rises and the higher you climb in the list.

    Re: Congratulations xlnitwit :-)

Ah OK, as simple as that, thanks - When I view the Member list it doesn't show me the number of Reps the people have. So I thought it might have been more complicated,
    Thanks

EDIT: Strange: - I see people well up the list that mostly just ask questions..?? - "...its the way they ask 'em.......??

    Re: Congratulations xlnitwit :-)

    @ Alan

The Reputation thingy isn't that straightforward.
It depends on a number of things.

    1. Do you receive rep points from every OP you help ? You can answer as many questions if you like but when you don't get recognition for it your rep count does't go up that much.

    2. Who gave you the rep points. Take a look at this thread https://www.excelforum.com/the-water...ts-system.html

So it's possible you give 10 answers to new members and receive rep from each one of them. You end up with a rep+ of 10
On the otherhand if 10 Forum Guru's also like these answers you give and also add rep you could end up with rep+ of 100.

So sometimes you can progress real slow (even though your answering lots of questions) or sometimes it can go real fast.

    Thanks, bakerman2.
Sorry, I did not make myself clear. I was not meaning that the Rep system was straightforward. I was just referring to the criteria for where you are on the Members list, that’s all:-
As the number of Reps someone has is not shown in the Member list_...
    BigMembers.JPG http://imgur.com/sgp3pfH
_... it was not clear to me that the number of reps was the simple criteria for where one is. I thought it might possibly be a complicated formula taking into account reps, posts, time of membership etc..etc..
It was just idle curiosity, that’s all. – But you cleared that up for me, thanks.
