How to help a beginner user?

Sorry you are right, I didn't mention her future job title or her future work field.

At the moment she is studding a HR Management Master (started this February). She wants to do a internship in her spare time (two days a week) to gain experience and be more prepare for the real world once she finish with it. So as a natural decision, she is applying for HR Admin/clerk (basic role). Could be payroll, development & training, recruitment or other field of her study area. As I am not working in this field (always I've worked in Operations Luxury Retail and now ERP - Microsoft Dynamics AX implementation) I do not have a clue what her daily duties will be in terms of Excel. I guess all sort of reports, time sheets and other employee's related data.

So I am looking for something that could gather and cover all basic areas for an office environment, nothing to specific owing the company should provide training for their employees with the programs and tools they use for the normal activity for their business.

Thank you very much for the link you provided, I really appreciate it, but it looks like doesn't fit her needs at the moment.

I just been checking some links and looks sooo interesting! But to be honest with you these link is going to be useful for me not for her at the moment (I can tell you that I'm going to use some of these links for my personal knowledge!)

But unfortunately it is to much for her. She's starting to discover about the Excel world, but even she's a smart girl, she's starting to discover how Excel works, she is getting familiar with all command button on the ribbon, so we need to go step by step, slowly but surely.

Do you know if is in this forum any thread related to very, very beginner users?

That is the kind of stuff I was looking for!! You have hit the nail on the head!! Thank you very much!!

At the moment we are using MS Office 2007, our trial licence for MS Office for Windows10 expired shortly after we bought our laptops about a year ago and hence the respective licence.

However for the exercices you have linked I will try to extrapolate the interface of Excel 2010/2016 to 2007 version in my best way. Basically it has the same layout as previous versions and the tasks are performed in the same way whichever Excel's oldest versions. Even if the ribbon and the Office button are slightly different in terms of features and look, I could manage to use the basic concepts of formatting, basic formulas/functions, tables, filters and others.

I think it could easily work, in any case I will let you know in a couple of weeks if I the outcome is succesful.

Great idea! You are right she can be next to me when I practise with the links provided!!

This is very true sandy666, the best way to learn is watching someone play around and see what is going on, then she will have a clear picture how Excel works, even if I am practising with complex stuff, she can pick up all the basic concepts.

She is very clever, well in my humble opinion and experience all women are far clever despite the subject they are dealing with, but for her and in terms of Excel (and with new technologies, pc, smartphones and other devices) she particularly does not have the same view, patient and passion that the people in this forum share in common.

But for sure I'll take your advise!

You can download the exercises with solutions. He is a good teacher and has good teaching skills. It covers all excel topics except VBA.
