    Sharepoint?

Is there something wrong with me or does Sharepoint really suck?

    No, no, it sucks.
Be fore warned, I regularly post drunk. So don't take offence (too much) to what I say.

The Grid. A digital frontier. I tried to picture clusters of information as they moved through the computer. What did they look like? Ships? motorcycles? Were the circuits like freeways? I kept dreaming of a world I thought I'd never see. And then, one day...

    Re: Sharepoint?

My company has SharePoint and I have the same opinion as just about every other Microsoft product. The underlying functionality it provides is pretty good, but the user experience is just awful. The user interface design is miserable. Microsoft products are designed by engineers who design them for themselves without thinking about the human beings who will use them.

    Examples:

If you have a SharePoint List with a lot of items, there is a little bitty thing at the bottom that says "1-30". It doesn't tell you whether there is another page; you just have to magically know that 30 is the maximum. You don't know how many items there are or how many pages. You cannot change the number of items shown on a page.

When you update properties of a list view, it has a list of all the columns. Each columns is accompanied by a dropdown box with a position number for where that column will be shown on the display. You have to set the numbers, and click Update to see whether 1) you have selected the correct numbers for the correct columns, because they are kind of far apart, and 2) whether you created any conflicts or misordering by the numbers you selected. Any sane person would have set it up so that you can drag the column names up and down to change their positions, or at least have a little spin button that does it, instead of this numbering nonsense.
