    Version Migrainetion

Should VBA Code Migration Gotchas be a whole sub forum under tips and tutorials?

i.e. the pitfalls of moving working code from Excel version X to Excel version Y.

I've definitely stepped into quite a few pitfalls over the generations, and having some kind of tribal knowledge on the topic may prove useful.

    Re: Version Migrainetion

It's pretty well documented in MSDN site.

Most major one will be difference between 32bit install to 64bit install for Excel 2010 or later.
    https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/lib...ffice.14).aspx

Only other issue I've encountered is when I write code in newer version, using methods or members not available in older versions.
But then, that's also documented in MSDN page for each Object/Method/Property etc.

Mac to PC or PC to Mac is whole another issue

I don't know maybe it's just me, but I keep running into issues that are not well documented at the time such as the whole rewrite of the chart object structure when I moved to 2013, or commandbars when I moved to 2007, VBA was completely missing for certain installs of 2010, ...

also now that I've done some poking around on 2016 C2R, UWP, and Windows 10 S; I get that tingling feeling just before the storm, where we're yet again on the precipice of a major turning point for Excel which may be the beginning of the end to VBA and COM altogether.

although I just can't imagine a robust Excel and/or Office without them or at the very least a suitable replacement.
