I remember watching it with my dad.

I remember both as well ...
John Kennedy: I was sitting in 5th grade class ? A girl from our class had been assisting another teacher down the hall. She ran down the hall, stopped at our class doorway with both hands grasping the door frame on either side of her
and stated "The President has been shot."
I heard a gasp. Then complete silence. Then our teacher burst into tears and ran from the room.
Although we were just old enough to comprehend the impact of the assassination, it took a minute or so for it to sink in. First the girls started crying, then a few of the boys. The remainder of the day we did nothing until school was released.
Moon Landing: I watched it live on tv for hours. Stayed up past midnight to see Neil Armstrong step from the lander to the moon's surface. If I recall correctly, the broadcast networks or NASA had to overcome a technical issue with the live images
coming across upside down. It was alot easier to watch once the image was upside right. That first step and Neil's statement sent chills down my spine.
I wish NASA had been able to continue with exploration at the same level after the Apollo program. We would already be on Mars and who knows where else.
I remember my dad getting me up to watch the moon landings. I was so excited.
The other very vivid memory is hearing about the death of Princess Diana.
