    Time wasted

    Hi,

I just spent about 30 minutes typing an issue I'm having and needing help with .... when I went to attach the demo file, nothing happened so I thought I'd check the forum rules to see if I was doing something wrong. I followed the link to at the top of the page, read the rules, hit the back button and all my text was gone!

Is that normal? What did I do wrong?

    thanks,

    Ladysdaddy

    .
Yes. If you type something into the reply window and don't "post" it ... moving to another area then returning usually loses everything you've typed.
Frustrating ... it has happened to me as well.

Sometimes I use NOTEPAD or WORDPAD then copy and paste to post.

Thanks for the reply. Good idea using WORDPAD...I'll have to remember that.

    Re: Time wasted

I still can't attach a file. I uploaded it in the manage attachments page, but still no luck. I search the forum for instructions but no luck. What am I missing please?

Here are the instructions for uploading a file.

Click on Go Advanced. The paperclip Icon does not work and hasn't for a couple of years.
    Scroll down to Manage Attachments.
Check to make sure that your file size does not exceed the file limitations shown.
    Select the file to upload.
    Click on Upload.
    Click on Close this window.
You should be back to your original thread
    Complete your thread and save.

    Re: Time wasted

Thanks for the instructions alansidman, but I give up. This is not the Forum for me. I don't see the Go Advanced button. I click on Manage Attachments, upload the file, the file size is way below the threshold, click on close this window and....nothing. LOL, I've spent an hour just trying to post a something and I'm well versed in Forum protocol. Oh well, thanks again....it was almost fun.

How about remove the non working paperclip icon so people don't spend a lot of time, like me, trying to figure out why it's not working....

If it is only that easy. We are merely volunteers on this forum and are not the ones who maintain the infrustructure / software. We request all sorts of things to the management team and sit back and wait for the updates to come.

Sorry you're having trouble uploading attachments, but all works will on my end and I dont' really have anything different than you.

The Go Advanced button is right below the Quick Reply window. Bottom right.

    Re: Time wasted

Apologies for your frustrating 1st visit here

We have been trying to fix (or remove) the paperclip icon for quite a while, but the tech team apparently have other work to do (that they get paid for, rather then the freebee they do here)

Im sure that once you see how to upload a file through the "Go Advanced" option, all will be good in the world for you again.

Hopefully you stick around and try us again, please dont hesitate to "complain" again, and thanks for bringing this to our attention - Im sure you are not the only newbie here to have had that experience

    Re: Time wasted

Hey Fdibbins, thanks for the support.....but it actually gets worse...LOL.....the Forum still thinks I haven't posted anything yet so it doesn't show me the Go Advanced button on any new posts. oh well...perhaps in a few days it will catch up???

    Trying to stay strong...

Well -- now that you're a forum regular, maybe you should post a question.

    Re: Time wasted

I should have mentioned that posts in this forum dont "count" - apologies again. But I see you now have a post count, so you should now be able to upload files?
