    Hi there,

Possible to have the following post attachments removed please? I can no longer edit my posts for some reason.

    - Remove both attachments from post #1 and post #4: https://www.excelforum.com/excel-for...ml#post5116779

    - Remove attachments from post #1 and post #8 (leave attachment in post #12): https://www.excelforum.com/excel-gen...-properly.html

    Thanks so much

Re: Remove attachments from my posts

You should not be removing attachments from your threads - it renders the thread partially or wholly useless to members reading it in the future. You will have to have a very good reason why these attachments need removing.

Please do not remove attachments in future: anything you share needs to stay in place. Thanks.

Re: Remove attachments from my posts

    Hi AliGW,

I do have a reason, I am not removing them for no reason otherwise I would not ask.

When I first posted them I was a brand new user and not so savvy. These attachments contain sensitive information. Can we please either remove the attachments or the threads entirely.

No, we cannot and will not remove the threads entirely, but I will look at removing the attachments at some point today. Please prepare desensitised versions of them to put in their place so that the threads are not 'broken' for future users. Attach these to a new post in each of the threads, and then I'll remove the sensitive versions.

    Thanks.

Re: Remove attachments from my posts

I have uploaded desensitised versions on both threads. I appreciate your help if you can please remove the old attachments as this is supposed to be a helpful forum and I have thanked all those who have helped me the whole way through.

I just feel like I am being scolded like a child the way you have worded your posts to me - not all of us are computer savvy like you and sometimes we make mistakes. That's what forums are supposed to be for...helping people..

    Thanks anyway

You are not being scolded - I am just ensuring that your threads are not rendered useless to future members (as they are now part of a public database) and that you understand not to do this again and why.

I will look at removing the attachments over the course of today.

    Thanks for adding desensitised versions.

This is an incredibly helpful forum, but we have rules and standards that everyone needs to abide by. My job is to ensure they are adhered to.

Thanks for looking at removing them.

"For what reason do you wish to remove the attachment? You should not be sharing anything that should not be shared on a public forum, and we expect sample workbooks to stay in place as a part of the thread. You will need a very good reason for us to agree to removing it."

Just for future, that's being scolded and publicly embarrassed, sorry . I was happy to upload desensitised versions I just didn't know how the system worked - a nice explanation from you from the start would have been more helpful to me rather than making feel like an absolute idiot.

This experience now makes it very very clear to me.

Re: Remove attachments from my posts

No, it is not a scolding. It's really important that (a) you understand and (b) anyone reading this understands that this is a public forum and that attachments can be accessed by anyone visiting it, and that therefore you shouldn't attach anything sensitive. It says so in the yellow banner at the top of the page, too.

Please don't overreact - you are taking this far too personally.

If that takes care of your original question, please select Thread Tools from the menu link above and mark this thread as SOLVED.

Re: Remove attachments from my posts

Thanks so much for removing the attachments - that yellow banner was not there when those were initially posted.

As I said - we are not all whizzes and apologies for taking it personally but there is a nice way to speak to people even on a forum. Even 'Hello' doesn't go astray.

Appreciate your help nonetheless - just trying to communicate what it feels like to be on the other side...
