Pls Vote for this Excel Feature, Just 15 Seconds.

@ Admins/Mods, if this is not a right place to post a request, kindly delete this post.

Age old Data Validation List in excel needs update. Search as you type/Filter List as per typed characters/Search Suggestions/Auto complete should be there. Google Sheets has this feature since very long time. Its more than 5 years since the post but nobody at Microsoft cares to look. Its high time. I request you to spare just 15 seconds and vote at this link. Currently the vote counter is at 230. Even 100-200 more votes will make it noticeable. Thanks a lot.

Acutally, Excel Online already has something similar.

Google Sheets and Excel Online both has this feature, since it is easy to implement in online environment.

You could implement this feature yourself using iterative calculation in offline workbook as well. Though not ideal.

    @CK76 Thanks for input
I checked excel online version, it has this feature but to my surprise it only searches the list if first word found in list.

Say if you are searching for "Will Smith",
If you type "will" it will show you the match in dropdown.
    But,
If you type "smi" it will NOT show anything from the list. (Google sheet works flawlessly weather you type "will" or "smi")

The solution given in link provided by you needs user to click arrow button after entering few characters. If that is the case & having office 365, i would prefer method mentioned in video below (using filter function, faster solution).

Another good solution would be this add-in https://www.excelcampus.com/vba/sear...rop-down-lists
There are few issues with this add-in. It opens in a new pop up window. we need to click a button to open the add-in and press another button to close it (there is a setting, once ticked, it will open automatically when data validation list detected). It would be great if any cell containing validation list automatically becomes combo box with this add-in. This way it will require less effort to work with this add-in. Moreover in a large data set it makes excel sheet very slow. Currently am using this add-in (& contacted the add-in developer to make it fast for large data set & also requested him to vote for this feature in excel )

I am in favor of having this feature in excel by default (same like google spreadsheet). It looks like Excel development team is lazy & deaf, because since last 5 years I am looking for the same feature. Google implemented this feature years ago, MS is still deaf. How hard can it possibly be to add variable length to and auto complete to it's very old and dated "Drop Down List" in Data Validation?

Excel is good for Analyzing & calculating data, but its not good enough for data entry. Can somebody please suggest me some other tool which is better for data entry (with conditional formatting, protected formulas, data validation etc)

Thats why I decided to post this on forum & request fellow members to VOTE FOR IT. Once voting number increases, it will surely get noticed.

    Thanks for your time.

Is it possible to make this add-in https://www.excelcampus.com/vba/sear...rop-down-lists
    to work like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eB7aedJ9RVI

I think, by tweaking and changing few lines of codes, we can make it work. But I dont know what to change

As for iterative calculation option it is for backward compatibility.

In most businesses, you need backward compatibility to Excel 2010. In some cases, businesses still use Excel 2003. Hence, I avoid use of Filter function.

Both Filter function version and iterative calculation version will work online as well.

VBA is possible. But won't work on online. I prefer formula based approach for this reason.
