Nowadays a lot of services are moving to cloud-based technologies and I think that Microsoft is among the first companies who will try to transfer everything to cloud databases and Access is among the first ones.
when compared to apple, this process is much slower for them. Although it is gaining momentum now

IMO unprofessional opinion, I believe companies need to maintain a local, along with a cloud based system. If the internet goes down, you are dead in the water and can longer access information.
