Opening a worksheet from a post in this forum?

If I include a worksheet in a post in this forum, say WarningProblem.xlsx, should it appear with that name, open with that name, and be in editable form, not Read Only?

I'll try it again now, using Manage Attachments.

Same problem. This time when I open it from the (preview) post it has been re-named to WarningProblem-5.xlsx and is Read Only!

Re: Opening a worksheet from a post in this forum?

The -5 addition is probably being added by your browser when it opens the file. When I select a file to open from the forum, my browser saves the file to my temp folder and then opens. If I previously opened a file with the same name, the browser appends the -2 (-3, -4, etc) since it cannot save a file with the same name in the temp folder. In order to avoid this, I would need to empty the temp folder (or open the temp folder and delete the files with the same name), or save to disk (where it may prompt to overwrite or rename if the same file exists). To completely avoid this problem, make sure to empty your temp folder/other download folder before each download.

The read only property is, I believe, a default property of all files in the temp folder, and often when I download files from the internet, a default property assigned by my browser. You can change this property after the file is downloaded using the tools in your OS. Whether you can change this might depend on your browser and what options it allows.
