Re: Call in the Cavalry 2024

I know how to build the chart in this thread, but the OP also wants help designing the overall spreadsheet. Where and how to best input the raw data, how to have the tables at the top, and have the chart as desired. It isn't the kind of spreadsheet programming I do, so I'm not very good at it. My current thought is that, if one built a good "database" for the raw data, the "reporting" tables and the chart table could be extracted from the raw data with filters/pivots, but, as noted, those aren't my strengths.

Is this even possible with a CF formula? Or will it require VBA?

The request in post #7 of this thread may be possible using either 365 function based formulas or VBA. I don't know enough about either to help.

I'm confident this formula can simplified using a LET() or LAMBDA() or similar function, but lack support in my older version. Can anyone step in with a solution: https://www.excelforum.com/excel-for...ml#post5925327

Re: Call in the Cavalry 2024

Can anyone else have a look at the chart in the attached file? The OP has a picture showing the chart truncating the line in the chart at 9 Feb, but, when I open the file, the line extends to 22 Feb. I can't debug the problem if I can't see the problem, and I cannot seem to guess what would cause Excel to fail to draw the line connecting the last few data points in the chart. I'm wondering if it is a problem specific to the OP's version or installation of Excel, and hope that one of you can recreate the problem and debug it.

they cannot get my answer to work but it works for me in my sample I attached. It could be a translation issue though I tried translating into Norwegian.
    It doesn't error out.
they want an active hyper link that they click on to take them to today's date in col C. Is it a Google sheets issue?

In this one, the user is importing text files (eventually to be tens or hundreds of thousands of records) into Excel and then summarizing the data by the minute. Something about this process is taking a long time. I recall bumping up against a similar issue in the forum years ago (for an earlier version of Excel) where grouping a pivot table by minutes or seconds took a very long time for the pivot table to refresh. I don't recall details and can't find the earlier thread.

Perhaps one of you who is much more familiar with pivot tables (and the whole process of importing text files and summarizing with pivots) could chime in on why this user is having trouble and propose more efficient solutions.

    Regarding this thread: https://www.excelforum.com/excel-gen...-included.html

I crafted a 365 solution (as per the OP's forum profile) only to be told that the solution needed to work with Excel 2019 (forum profile now changed). Any takers?

EDIT: Forget this. The OP has now decided that they have 2021, but in fact it's an old version of 365. Utter confusion!

Formulae are not going to work fully for the OP here: https://www.excelforum.com/excel-pro...-a-date-2.html

It requires VBA to populate the Gantt cart from a form-generated table and CF applying.

The OP wants to rearrange some data. Profile says 2019 but would also like a (separate?) solution for 2021. Or would take a VBA solution.

Re: Call in the Cavalry 2024

This one started out being about blanks that were not blank, but has morphed into something more fundamental about pivot table theory and practice that is above my pay grade. Anyone good with pivot tables want to join the discussion?

This one I think needs a Lambda/Let function for which I am not up to speed.

Since you dealing with dates than it's date format problem.

    CurrentDate = Format(Date, "YYYYMMDD")

When I open file and run the macro I see:

Please Login or Register to view this content.
Now you need to check how do you see those dates and how user see it...
And where you rely on date formats in your code...

I can repeat again that 99% problems I get in VBA is related to date formats.. Sad that developers never try to work on that problem...
Never use Merged Cells in Excel

Many of you are more skilled at handling text data than I am. In this one, the user receives a bunch of hand entered, inconsistent "keywords," and they need to run a lookup on these inconsistent keywords against a lookup table. Can anyone propose a way to run the lookup with these inconsistent text entries?

This one needs the attention of someone who's a loan officer at a bank or plays one on TV: https://www.excelforum.com/excel-for...-payments.html Even someone who knows the right questions to ask about the loan terms would probably help.

Can one of you experts please help to look at this thread please?

I am unable to think further, maybe my approach was wrong.

It's about employees' entry and exit dates with multiples entry and exit dates for the same employees.

    Thank you.
