    Smile What's in a name?

    Hi all

I was browsing the other day, when I came across this. For those that can't be bothered clicking on it, it's an announcement by Microsoft that the next Windows will be known as Windows 7.

Microsoft should be congratulated on coming up with such a splendid, inventive name, but shouldn't they have spent a litle time counting the previous versions of Windows?
Starting after Windows 3.11 we have :
    Windows 95
    Windows 98 (let's not count Windows 98SE)
    Windows NT
    Windows ME
    Windows 2000
    Wndows XP
    Windows Vista

So shouldn't the next version of Windows be Windows 11?

Windows 7 makes sense to me, but that's only because I know they are basing it on the NT platform, which means Windows 3.x, 95, 98 and ME aren't included.

NT ended up as version 4.0
    2000 is version 5.0.x
    XP is version 5.1.x
    Vista is version 6.0.x
'Windows 7' will probably be 7.0.x (or 6.1.x if they feel so inclined!)
