    Stock Market

Does anyone here follow the stock market? I've always wanted to get into it but never really knew too much about it so I brought a book and started watching CNN and CNBC about stock. A few months ago I set up a dummy portfolio and invested in $5K in 10 stocks. 4 of those those stocks average ~12% returns so I thought what the heck let me jump in. I invested in two of those four on monday and now they are down ~3% each. Just my luck!

    Re: Stock Market

I've never officially taken part in the stock markets but I've "played" with them with dummy portfolios. Also, there was a project that involved watching and analyzing the stock market for one of my business classes at university. It was an interesting project but, being a student/father/husband, my cash resources aren't quite where they need to be to invest. At least not yet.

    An old axiom of investing.

It's not about timing the market, but rather it is time in the market.

Good Luck. This past week has been disasterous. It will get better. Do not get discouraged.

    Re: Stock Market

I've watched and tracked stocks for about 15 years using Access and now Excel. They taught me Web Queries until sites stopped using tables. After many years of study and using a variety of advisors and books, I've decided it is a non-logical system. My current thinking is to use ETFs instead of individual stocks and only buy things that have a lot of volume.

    Re: Stock Market

I've never done anything more than a cursory look into investing (I doubt I'll ever have the money for it), but I came to the conclusion that EFT's seemed like the best way to get into the stock market.
Is your code running too slowly?
Does your workbook or database have a bunch of duplicate pieces of data?
