    Hello (again)

Just thought I'd say a quick "hello".

I registered here back in October and threw myself into the whole thing, even managing to solve a few problems and then got dragged away by real life and my employer's unreasonable expectation that I solve problems for them, rather than for strangers on the Internet.

But now I'm back (to a number of private messages asking if I can help out with code - sorry if you're one of the people who PM'd me).

So, what have I missed in the past 10 months?

I created a UDF that opens interstellar portals

Did you get caught helping someone on the forum and then chastised for said actions?
If you're happy with someone's help, click that little star at the bottom left of their post to give them Reps.

I'm really excited by that - can you use it to open a portal to another cell and then change that cell's value?

Nothing so exciting, as I settled into the job people found I could do stuff and started asking for stuff to be done. That's not the way working life is supposed to be, I'm sure.

That is actually how I ended up getting promoted. I was hired for one job, took the initiative to help everyone I could in Office, Excel in particular, and so they promoted my to Development, and now I am paid to work all day in Excel and Access. Yay! :D

Yeah, but I'm a data manager. I've got a team of people who work for me who are supposed to do the icky stuff with, you know, numbers and things. I'm supposed to be managerial, which means going for long lunches, leaving early and sharing my vast knowledge with Internet forums.
