    Android App

Okay, I was bored yesterday so though I'd download the Android App and have a look.

Initial impressions are that it works as a means of getting access to the forum. Quite why you would need to do this through an Android App I'm really not sure though. You can't run Excel on Android for starters so if you are using it there's a pretty good chance you'll have a pc on the go so it would only really be any use if you were on a train or somewhere with a mobile signal but no internet connection and needed to look something up.

Based on using it on a phone with a large screen (Samsung Galaxy S2) I do find it a little easier to use than the actual website through my mobiles browser but there's no way I'd use it as a means to answer questions. I guess it's for when I'm bored waiting for the train home to see if anyone has replied to a thread. If I was using it on a tablet I'd probably stick to the website.

First improvement should be to get rid of the requirement to enter your username and password each time you open the app which after only a couple of uses already annoys me.

A generous 3 out of 5 as it seems to work but is of little real use.

I agree. Even when I using mobile phone for EF I rather go over browser than app.

    Re: Android App

Been playing with a bit more and it's frankly not much cop at all.

No way of seeing if a thread is solved, some notification and photo options that seem to do nothing at all and forum guidelines etc are totally absent unless they're hidden somewhere.

You've also got to love the fact that the only other review, surprisingly 5 stars, is from Shub the developer.

Rating revised to 1 out of 5.

Yeah, well, you have to understand that Vai's "tech team" need something to fill their empty days with. If there is nothing important to do on the forum, then it only makes sense to let them write Android and iPhone apps. It would be different, though, if the forum had bugs or wasn't working perfectly. In that case, they would of course funnel all their resources into fixing the forum bugs first.

    =)

Doesn't register if you do try and reply and crashes if you try and view a PM.

Seems about as thoroughly tested as the forum upgrade.

I can't be bothered playing with it any more so have uninstalled.

Presumably the iPhone app has yet to make it through the AppStore quality control for some reason...
    Good luck.
