    Annoying comment

Anybody got any favourite “I hate” comment?

To me the “It works!” is the one that irks me the most.

So I spent time working on the OP’s problem. Then I do a bit of testing trying to guess what the OP needs but did not tell and adding that to my proposed solution.

The OP finding his problem solved exclaims “It works!” but to me that sounds like “yea dumbass you finally managed to do something right!”

At times like that I feel like shouting: “Of course it works I spent time testing it to ensure it works. Do you think that I deliberately try to fool people?”

Please forum members tell me should I take therapy in “Anger management” or do some of you feel the same way from time to time?

If so please post your favourite “I hate” comment.

    Re: Annoying comment

It's all a matter of interpretation. To me " It works !" makes me feel like the OP is astonished it can be done and that it's not that complicated ( which is a relative matter of course) - It's the same than " well done"

    Re: Annoying comment

At least in this case, "get back" a "working"......

For me the most annoying answer is "This does not work"

The same time as you (having test the solution 10 times), you're sure it's working perfectly.

And of course, above all, giving a correct answer and difficult (having spent a lot of time and effort into it), the OP disappear without any reply..

But what to do? Such is life!

I agree with Fotis - "doesn't work" with no more information is the most annoying
with "never mind figured it out" coming second

I agree with Joseph. "It doesn't work" with no explaination drives me crazy. That's when I want to scream.

Nope the best would have to be,

"BTW, I forgot to mention that the real file is not like the one I posted."

One I am personally guilty of in my early days.

ConneX, first a reference to "The Prisoner" (I think) and now "Thunderbolt and Lightfoot"? Are we a trivia encyclopedia?

I hope not! However, my sense of humour does tend to stray into the more arcane.

I wish I could be that positive but living in Sweden I think I’ve watched too many Ingmar Bergman films.

I must admit that “doesn’t work” is also a good one.

BTW, I forgot to mention that the real file is not like the one I posted.
Yep this I think is the one that is going to get the 1st price!

Nothing like a trunk full of rabbits and a shotgun to take the edge off.
Hmmm, nasty, how about “Kill them all and let God sort them out?”

Must admit Pepe makes me feel bad since he is that positive but the rest of you guys make me feel better.

    Re: Annoying comment

I've seen "I have created a workbook" where the workbook was actually created by members of the forum. I don't like "I wrote code" when:
    • There's no code and,
    • The code is recorded
When I was more noobish I stated either "I have code" or "I recorded code". I know the terms are like splitting hairs but when some people put 0 effort into something and then take full credit, it bothers me. I also don't like scenarios that JapanDave pointed where the workbook uploaded is completely different from the actual.

    What?

Hat-tip to Marcol, those are my top two as well. Especially #2.

"I tried your formula in my real workbook and it doesn't work."
(workbook is completely different with no edits to formula, or workbook is EXACTLY the same and they changed the formula for no reason."

@Abousetta, looks like he/she wants them really deleted, not just cleared. Tell him/her the best you can do is hide them.

    Re: Annoying comment

I explained that in my last post, before the OP told me to upload a example... I don't if they want to upload a video to YouTube with a split screen showing my fingers hitting the keys in one of the screen and the excel screenshot in the other half or what. How do you upload an example of deleting columns??? I just gave up and didn't want to sarcastic or rude because the OP could just be someone really struggling to understand the basic concepts of a keyboard, selecting columns and rows, etc.
