    How to adequately say thanks??

    Hello Guru team

I look (ok recently lurk) on this forum as well as my primary thread which is VBA programing

I am constantly amazed at the good grace the team respond to requests for help, I have tried a few times to assist OP and, to my amazement, have sometimes actually solved the problem they face.

I should say that in a previous life I was a green screen developer in 3rd Generation (ok maybe also earlier as well) languages with little knowledge of what you seem to take for granted (stuff like collections that allow for stuff like "for each ws in workbook syntax).

I am gradually building a collection of "vba code" that "does stuff" but there are many instances when I need to post a simple "I have never done this before and I know it is basic but" question.

What amazes me is that people with thousands of post will take the time to respond to a "if you read the manual you would probably have found the answer
by yourself" (ok I plead guilty in some cases myself )

Personally, I try to help where I can, often that is how to solve a "business issue" rather than a syntax problem.

Rambling a bit, sorry, just want to say the support the guys give is amazing (sorry if I have accidentally offended 52% of the world, in my world "guys" is very non gender specific(

" a very green contributor when I can help"

For me, the best thanks is when someone (not necessarily the OP, even) replies to say: "That's cool, I learned from what you posted"

@OllyXLS: I like that too ... especially if/when it comes from people that I recognise as very talented and knowledgeable. I try to +rep people in threads where I may or may not have had an involvement, if/when I have learned something new or a better way of doing something I take for granted. Sometimes it's a case of, "that's neat, I want to find somewhere that I can use that!"

I have often found, that is precisely those members with the high post counts, that give the most direct assistance, and the least "if you read the manual you would probably have found the answer by yourself" replies

I too am constantly amazed at the sheer raw talent displayed here by members...I often find myself trying to decode some formulas, trying to figure out what they are doing (and many times, finding myself totally stumped)

I guess, like most members here, I get my *rewards*from the thanks and comments member give when I help solve a question for them

I chuckled when I saw "Guru Team" as I'm sure I have never met (in person) any of the other frequent contributors on this site.

I feel like Excel has been a great tool for me and others to make work easier.
I keep learning new things in excel by having the OP's problems presented.
Without problems to solve, we wouldn't really get better with our tool.

I feel like helping others is like paying back all the time Excel has helped me get answers.
I also saw that movie and believe in karma and paying it forward. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0223897/

Kevin Spacy has a lot different character in "House of Cards" than he did in the above.
One test is worth a thousand opinions.
