There are 4 ways that an Excel File can link to another file.
- Formula
- Named Ranges
- Conditional Formatting
- Data Validation
Formula links are easy to remove. Click on Data -> Edit Links and they are listed.
Named Range links can be found by going to a blank sheet, pressing F3 and printing out the definitions. You can use Formulas -> Name Manager to remove or edit the link.
Conditional Formatting and Data Validation Links are harder to find. The attached code helps with the effort. To use the code, go to a sheet and select the range of cells in which you suspect a link. Run the macro.
The macro looks for both types of links. A cell that contains Conditional Formatting may have multiple triggers. The code finds them all and presents them. Data Validation links are shown with the range to which they reference.
