I am not an expect user but I use excel for budgets, reports, time lines and more. I did something where the cells are highlighted in random areas on the sheet. A "quick analysis box" also appears. How do I stop this madness that I created?

Maybe:
menu File / Options / General / and under 'User Interface options' turn off "Show Quick Analysis options on selection" / OK to confirm.
