    hi,everyone.
the picture above is the result of a way used to generate automatically a tree structure (pink part) from given child-parent relationship data(white part).
no VBA or other programming are used in it. of course ,the secret is that the iterative calculation is used.
check the file in attachment to see how it works. hope it will be helpful as i know some people are looking for things like this for some time. thanks!

The attached file is different than your screenshot and does not show any tree structure. Also please explain how to set up the data in E:H. No idea how you set up these relationships.

thank you ! i'm very happy to see that the forum has recovered from downtime.
as my moderator see, the file is as its original state when you open it the first time. just follow instruction to use it. nevertheless i also provide some screen capture to tell that.

and i'm very happy to say i'm working on a new and enhanced version of it. new features include BOM amount, cost and LEVEL code. (with out VBA either.) may it be really a little more useful. it should be done tonight if it's plain sailing.

in attachment it's the newest version.
    1. in this version some helper columns are removed, so the columns depending on them are also changed on formula.
    2. then the counter cells are moved to the left-up corner to make sure they are always recalculated before other cells in iterative calculation when some triggers are changed. or else, the "LEVEL CODE" column will be incorrect sometimes.

this is a new version. in this version two counters are removed. only the one which draws the "tree branches" is reserved. the removed ones are replaced by some pure-function ways.
