Here's a spreadsheet for automated simple vlookups

    Good afternoon!
I find myself using a simple vlookup all day long, normally for 100-30000 rows of data. I finally created the VBA code to basically automate the process. This is only for simple vlookups within the same workbook. IE I have data on Sheet2 that I want to pull into Sheet1. All you have to do is highlight the cells where you want the data to pull to, then click the button! A few input boxes will appear, then you're finished.

    Here's a quick guide:

I'm using 2010, but the process should be the same for other versions.

    1. Save vlookup.xlsm somewhere safe on your computer. I just have mine in My Documents
    2. With the vlookup spreadsheet opened, go to File -> Options -> Quick Access Toolbar. In the "Choose Commands From" dropdown, choose "Macros"
    3. Click on "Find", then click the "Add" button. Click OK.
    4. You should now have a little icon in your toolbar. Name: Capture.PNG
Views: 236
Size: 245 Bytes This will always be present. no need to open the vlookup spreadsheet again. Close vlookup spreadsheet.

**Remember to save your spreadsheet before using this. Stuff happens sometimes!**

Now, in any spreadsheet that you want to use vlookup:
    1. Select the cells where you want the data to be copied to.
    2. Click on the button in the toolbar.
    3. Type the column LETTER of the row that had the data you're going to lookup.
    4. Doubleclick on the sheet that has the data you want to copy from.
    5. Did you forget to move the column that you need to lookup to column a? no problem. Just click on "no" in the popup box and go to step 5a. If you do have the data in column A, click "yes" and go to step 6.
5a: Type the letter of the column that has the data you are matching to the original sheet.
    6. Type the letter of the column that you want to copy to the original sheet.
    7. Profit?

I can do vlookups on any number of rows in just seconds now. Try it out if you wish and let me know if you run into any issues.
