There are many options for this.
If you have an Apple computer, this is built into the Printer options.
Adobe acrobat pro does this easily.
If I go to save the document in Office 2010 a file type option is .pdf, I don't think this was in 2003 version but you could double check.
There are 3rd party programs that attempt to do this, I have tried a few but have gotten less than spectacular results.
Do you have any of the 3 first things mentioned? (Apple, AA Pro, Option in Save As menu for File Type?)

There are freeware PDF 'printer' drivers you can use to print a file to PDF. See, for example: http://download.cnet.com/Bullzip-PDF...-10536746.html. Also, Adobe Acrobat Pro version 8 is now available as a free download. In addition to being able to act as a printer driver, it allows you to edit PDFs, and OCR scanner output to retrieve text from PDFs, etc. See: http://www.techspot.com/downloads/46...at-8-free.html - note the serial# mentioned there.
Hawkeye: The OP says the Office version is 2003, so using a Mac platform is unlikely. Neither can Office 2003 save to PDF.
