Word does not have a conditional formatting feature (like the one in Excel). You have not given a complete description, but do you want to create a table, then highlight any names that are duplicated?
Here are the two ways that I would do this:
1. Create the list in Excel, with the appropriate conditional formatting. When complete, copy and paste into Word
2. Create an embedded Excel Object in Word, then apply the appropriate conditional formatting.
A quick google search did not turn up anything that will do what you want, but why not use excel instead? IF you need to do any calcs/analysis, excel is made for that
1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)
2. If your question is resolved, mark it SOLVED using the thread tools
3. Click on the star if you think someone helped you

Thanks for the help - will try the embedded excel
hmmm why embed it? why not just use it like it is? ie, dont even bother with word
I would agree that an Excel file is better, unless this table is just one part of a larger document and really, really has to be in Word.
For a Word table, you could use a macro like:
If you don't want to highlight the first entry, simply comment out the 'If .Found = True ' line. The highlight colour will be whatever your current default is set to.Please Login or Register to view this content.

I like your way of thinking Macropod but unable to make it work -- unfortunately its not my worksheet or it would be done on excel
You asked about conditional formatting of a table in Word, but now you're referring to a worksheet - which is an Excel term. Which is it?
Its in word week 23 Days.doc
Given that your table isn't a list, contrary to how you described it in your first post, a few changes to the macro would be required:
