Merging excel data into a word document template

    Hi,

I am trying to take data from a workbook sheet and export it to a word template. I tried mail merge, but it did not work. I was able to save the workbook as a pdf, but I want to have a customized set up, not just a list, and I can't find info on how this can be done.

Is it possible to set up a word file with text fields that will populate from an excel spread sheet?

The word file would need to have pre-setup matching fields on a single page for each row in the spreadsheet.

It sounds easy, but I am just not familiar enough with using excel and word together to make it happen.

    Thank you!

    Hi,
Why mail merge did not worked for you? I think there are lot of tutorials in the web.
Another method could be excel macro that will open your pre-setup word file and then Find and Replace text in word doc with text from excel.
Let's say you need to load customer name from excel to word. Word doc must contain some special text, for example CustNameFromExcel in the place you want it to place.
Then macro search for this "CustNameFromExcel" and replace with text from excel. But this is "dancing with a tambourine", better way is figure out how to make mail merge to work.

That is precisely what mailmerge is for and it is easy to do. Since you haven't been specific about your problems, it's not possible to tell you how to fix them.

    Hi Kasan,

I did follow a tutorial, but the mail merge did not occur, however I will try it again. In the event I cannot make it work, I will be more specific on what happened in a follow up thread.

I also found a way to do it using a vbscript that might be more customizable. I will post the link to the web page I found it on in case any one else might want to try that method.

This thread can be mark as solved. Thank you for your reply.
