    Formatting Text in a Table

    Hi,
Is there a way I can format a cell to show as currency?
    e.g. I enter 10000 and it displays as $10,000.00

    Thanks in advance,
    Paul.

    yes
in the home tab click number and select currency - that format should be one of the default options
or, if for some reason you want to customise it, select custom and type this in the forma box:
    $#,##0.00

    Thanks for your reply.
This is a table in Word I'm talking about, not Excel.
There is no "number" option in the home tab...

    Hi Ed,

My wife, the*Word Expert says you can do it using fields, but it isn't worth the effort. Perhaps you should do the table in Excel and copy it into your word doc.
One test is worth a thousand opinions.

Thanks Marvin. Think that's the way to go.
Such a simple thing, it's a wonder it's made so hard.

You can indeed do it using field coding, or you could use a macro. The following macro formats part or all of a table in a two-decimal format, with or without a $ symbol.

For PC macro installation & usage instructions, see: http://www.gmayor.com/installing_macro.htm

Another approach would be to embed an Excel worksheet in the Word document. That gives your table full Excel functionality.
